Limitations

      This study had some limitations. By its very nature, writing and the assessment of writing is subjective. While every effort was made to remain consistent, and while the same writing rubric was used for each writing task and assessment, only one person assessed these compositions. Also, the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory is subjective and must rely on student self-knowledge.
