Analysis of Teacher Reflection

The intervention overall was successful, and the increased focus on the development of graphic organizers improved student writing. However, in the future, I would change certain elements of the intervention, especially in the area of metacognition. While the planning activities, including the graphic organizer template, the PLAN mnemonic, and the consistent revisiting of personal goals gave students adequate tools for improving their knowledge about their own thinking, it was hard to create student buy-in. The two students who developed most in metacognition, Subject E and Subject F, are older students who were motivated to self-evaluate and develop their own cognition.  Further research is needed on strategies that increase metacognitive awareness in adult learners.
