Summary of Findings for Each Student by Type: Graphic Organizers

        Subject A:  Graphic Organizers

       Subject A did not create a graphic organizer for the initial assessment. For Writing 

Task 1, Subject A received .5 points for organization and .5 points for content on the 

rough draft of the graphic organizer for a total of 1 point. On the final draft, he received 

1.5 points for organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points.

             For Writing Task 2, Subject A received .5 points for organization and 1 point for 

        content on his rough draft graphic organizer for a total of 1.5 points. On the final graphic 

        organizer he received 1.5 points for organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 

        3 points.

      For Writing Task 3, Subject A received 1.5 points for organization and 1 point for

 content on his rough draft graphic organizer for a total of 2.5 points. He did not revise

 his rough draft graphic organizer to create a final graphic organizer.

     For the final assessment, Subject A created a graphic organizer, receiving 1 point for 

organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1.5 points.

 Discussion of Change in Subject A:  Graphic Organizers

      Subject A did not create a graphic organizer for the initial assessment. For the final

 assessment, Subject A did create a graphic organizer and received 1 point for

 organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1.5 points. Subject A showed change

 in this case by deciding to create a graphic organizer but did not excel in organization

 and idea development in his final assessment graphic organizer. However, in two of the

 writing tasks, Subject A showed change in the final drafts of the graphic organizers

 submitted with each. In the third writing task, Subject A created a rough draft of a graphic

 organizer and demonstrated change in his ability to organize and develop ideas. Subject A

 did not revise this rough graphic organizer to enhance it further after teacher feedback.  

            Subject B: Graphic Organizers

     Subject B created a graphic organizer for the initial assessment and received 1 point for 

organization and 1 point for content for a total of 2 points. For Writing Task 1, Subject B 

received .5 points for organization and .5 points for content on her rough draft graphic 

organizer for a total of 1 point. For the final graphic organizer, Subject B received 1 point 

for organization and 1 point for content for a total of 2 points. For Writing Task 2, Subject 

B received 1 point for organization and 1 point for content on her rough draft graphic  

organizer. She received 1.5 points for organization and 1 point for content on her final 

graphic organizer for a total of 2.5 points.

     Subject B received 1 point for organization and .5 points for content on the rough 

graphic organizer for Writing Task 3 for a total of 1.5 points. She received 1.5 points for 

organization and 1.5 points for content on her final graphic organizer for Writing Task 3 

for a total of 3 points.

             On the final assessment, Subject B did not create a graphic organizer.

        Discussion of Change in Subject B:  Graphic Organizers

     Subject B created a graphic organizer for the initial assessment and received 1 point for 

organization and one point for content for a total of 2 points. Subject B did not create a 

graphic organizer for the final writing assessment, thus change in Subject B cannot be 

measured in relation to graphic organizer development. However, Subject B showed growth 

in the revisions of graphic organizers for each writing task.

          Subject C:  Graphic Organizers

      Subject C did not create a graphic organizer for the initial assessment. For the rough 

draft graphic organizer for Writing Task 1, Subject C received 1.5 points for organization 

and .5 points for content for a total of 2 points. For her final draft of the graphic organizer 

for Writing Task 1, Subject C received 1 point for organization and 1 point for content for 

a total of 2 points.

      For the rough draft graphic organizer of Writing Task 2, Subject C received .5 points 

for organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1 point. For her final draft of the 

graphic organizer for Writing Task 2, Subject C received 1.5 points for organization and 1 

point for content for a total of 2.5 points.

     For the rough draft of the graphic organizer for Writing Task 3, Subject C received .5 

points for organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1 point. For her final draft 

of the graphic organizer for Writing Task 3, Subject C received 1 point for organization 

and 1 point for content for a total of 2 points. Subject C created a graphic organizer for 

the final assessment and received 1.5 points for organization and 1.5 points for content 

for a total of 3 points. 

        Discussion of Change in Subject C:  Graphic Organizers

     Subject C did not create a graphic organizer for her initial assessment but did create 

one for her final assessment and performed better in this than she had on those created 

for her writing tasks. She received 1.5 points for organization and 1.5 points for content 

for a total of 3 points.  Subject C also demonstrated change in her revised final drafts of 

her graphic organizers for each of the writing tasks.

        Subject D: Graphic Organizers

      Subject D created a graphic organizer for his initial assessment. He received 1 point 

for organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1.5 points. Subject D received .5 

points for organization and .5 points for content on his rough draft graphic organizer for 

Writing Task 1. He did not complete a final draft of the graphic organizer for Writing Task 

1. For Writing Task 2, Subject D received 1.5 points for organization and 1.5 points for 

content on the rough draft of his graphic organizer for a total score of 3. He received 1.5 

points for organization and 1.5 points for content on the final draft of his graphic 

organizer  for a total score of 3.

     For Writing Task 3, Subject D received .5 points for organization and .5 points for 

content on the rough draft of his graphic organizer for a total of 1 point. He received .5 

points for organization and .5 points for content on the final draft of his graphic organizer  

for a total of 1 point.

     On his final assessment, Subject D did create a graphic organizer and received .5 

points for organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1 point.

        Discussion of Change in Subject D:  Graphic Organizers

      Subject D created graphic organizers for both the initial assessment and the final 

assessment but did not show change. Change was not apparent in either of the graphic 

organizers Subject D created. 

            Subject E:  Graphic Organizers

      Subject E created a graphic organizer for his initial assessment. He received 1 point for 

organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1.5 points.

      For Writing Task 1, Subject E received .5 points for organization and .5 points for 

content on the rough draft of his graphic organizer for a total of 1 point.  For his final 

draft of the graphic organizer for Writing Task 1, Subject E received 1.5 points for 

organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points.

     Subject E received 1 point for organization and 1 point for content on his rough draft 

of the graphic organizer for Writing Task 2. He received 1.5 points for organization and 

1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points on his final graphic organizer for Writing Task 

2. For Writing Task 3, Subject E received 1.5 points for organization and 1 point for 

content for a total of 2.5 points on his rough draft graphic organizer. He received 1.5 

points for organization and 1 point for content of his final graphic organizer for Writing 

Task 3 for a total of 2.5 points.

     On his final assessment, Subject E created a graphic organizer and received 1.5 points 

for organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points.

        Discussion of Change in Subject E:  Graphic Organizers

      Subject E created a graphic organizer for both the initial assessment and the final 

assessment. For the final assessment, Subject E showed change. He received 1.5 points for 

organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points. 

            Subject F:  Graphic Organizers

                  Subject F created a graphic organizer for her initial assessment. She received .5 

            points for organization and .5 points for content for a total of 1 point.

                 For Writing Task 1, Subject F received 1 point for organization and 1 point for 

            content on her rough draft  graphic organizer for a total of 2 points. For the final draft 

            of her graphic organizer for Writing Task 1, Subject F received 1.5 points for 

            organization and 1.5 points for content for a total of 3 points.

                 Subject F received 1.5 points for organization and .5 points for content on the rough 

           draft graphic organizer for Writing Task 2 for a total of 2 points. For her final draft of 

           the graphic organizer for Writing Task 2, Subject F received 1.5 points for organization

           Discussion of Change in Subject F:  Graphic Organizers

     Subject F created graphic organizers for both the initial assessment and the final 

assessment. For the final assessment’s graphic organizer, Subject F showed change. She 

received a 1.5 for organization and a 1.5 for content for a total of 3 points.
