Discussion of Findings by Student by Type: Writing Assessments

          Subject A:  Writing Assessments

     On the initial assessment, Subject A received 2 points for organization and 2.5 points on ideas for a total of 

4.5 points. For Writing Task 1, Subject A received 5 points for organization and 4 points for ideas for a total 

of 9 points. On Writing Task 2, Subject A received 5 points for organization and 4 points for ideas for a total 

of 9 points.  On Writing Task 3, Subject A received 4 points for organization and 3 points for ideas for a total 

of 7 points. On the final assessment Subject A received 4 points for organization and 4 points for ideas for a 

total of 8 points. 

          Discussion of Change in Subject A:  Writing Assessments

      On his initial assessment, Subject A received 2 points for organization and 2 points for idea development 

for a total of 4.5 points. On the final assessment, Subject A demonstrated change. He received 5 points for 

organization and 4 points for idea development for a total of 9 points. On each of his writing tasks after the  

initial assessment, Subject A received more points for organization and idea development than he did on his 

initial assessment, thus demonstrating change. 

          Subject B:  Writing Assessments

     For the Initial Assessment, Subject B received 3 points for organization and 3 points for ideas for a total of 

6 points. For Writing Task 1, Subject B received 4 points on organization and 4 points on ideas for a total of 8 

points. For Writing Task 2, Subject B received 3 points on organization and 3 points on ideas for a total of 6 

points. For Writing Task 3, Subject B received 4 points for organization and 4 points for ideas for a total of 8 

points. On the final assessment, Subject B received 4 points for organization and 3 points for ideas for a total 

of 7 points. 

           Discussion of Change in Subject B:  Writing Assessments

                  Subject B received 3 points for organization and 3 points for idea development on 

            her initial assessment for a total of 6 points. Subject B showed only marginal change on   

            her final assessment. She received 4 points for organization and 3 points for idea 

           development for a total of 7 points.  Overall, Subject B showed little or no change on 

           organization and idea development in her writing. 

       Subject C:  Writing Assessments

            Subject C received 2 points for organization and 2 points for content for a total of 4

       points on the initial assessment. On Writing Task 1, Subject C received 4 points for 

       organization and 4 points for content for a total of 9 points. On Writing Task 2, Subject C    

       received 4 points for organization and 5 points for content for a total of 9 points. Subject C 

       received 4 points for organization and 4 points for content on Writing Task 3 for a total of 

       8 points. On her final assessment, Subject C received 5 points for organization and 5 

       points for content for a total of 10 points. 

            Discussion of Change in Subject C:  Writing Assessments

     On her initial assessment, Subject C received 2 points for organization and 2 points for idea development 

for a total score of 4 points. On the final assessment, Subject C showed change in organization and idea 

development. She received 5 points for organization and 5 points for idea development for a total of 10 points. 

Change occurred consistently for Subject C in the writing assessments overall. 

          Subject D:  Writing Assessments

     Subject D received 3 points for organization and 3 points for content on his initial assessment for a total of 

6 points. On Writing Task 1, Subject D received 3.5 points for organization and 3.5 points for content for a 

total of 7 points. On Writing Task 2, Subject D received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content for 

a total of 10 points.

               Subject D received 5 points for organization and 4 points for content on Writing Task 3 for a total of 9 

        points. On his final assessment, Subject D received 3 points for organization and 3 points for content for a total 

        of 6 point

          Discussion of Change in Subject D:  Writing Assessments

     Subject D received 3 points for organization and 3 points for idea development on his initial assessment for 

a total of 6 points. On the final assessment, Subject D received 3 points for organization and 3 points for idea 

development as well, showing no change in these areas. However, Subject D showed overall change in his 

three writing assessments in between the initial and final assessments because he received teacher feedback on 

graphic organizers and revised rough drafts in class and at home to improve idea development and 

organization. 

           Subject E:  Writing Assessments

      Subject E received 3 points for organization and 3 points for content on his initial assessment for a total of 

6 points. On Writing Task 1, Subject E received 4.5 points for organization and 5 points for content for a total 

of 9 points. On Writing Task 2, Subject E received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content for a total 

of 10 points. On Writing Task 3, Subject E received 4 points for organization and 4 points for content for a 

total of 8 points. On the final assessment, Subject E received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content 

for a total of 10 points.

          Discussion of Change in Subject E:  Writing Assessments

      On his initial assessment, Subject E received 2 points for organization and 2 points for idea development 

for a total of 4 points. On his final assessment, Subject E received 5 points for organization and 5 points for 

idea development for a total of 10 points. Subject E showed changed in both organization and idea 

development in his final assessment. Subject E also showed overall change in his writing in organization and 

idea development.

         Subject F:  Writing Assessments

      Subject F received 2 points for organization and 3 points for content on her initial assessment for a total of 

5 points. On Writing Task 1, Subject F received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content for a total of 

10 points. On Writing Task 2, Subject F received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content for a total 

of 10 points. On Writing Task 3, Subject F received 4 points for organization and 5 points for content for a 

total of 9 points. On the final assessment, Subject F received 5 points for organization and 5 points for content 

for a total of 10 points. 

            Discussion of Change in Subject F:  Writing Assessments

                 Subject F received 2 points for organization and 3 points for idea development on her initial assessment. 

           She received 5 points for organization and 5 points for idea development on her final assessment. Subject F 

           showed change on her final assessment in these areas. She also showed consistent change overall on her 

           writing tasks.
